Today, more than a year after the beginning of the Arab spring, some issues need to be talked critically, for instance freedom, democracy and secularism in the Arab world.
In Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco, islamist parties came to power even if they entered the revolutions very tardily. Political reforms are needed today to build the democratic regimes we want. Also, religious reforms seem inescapable to allow Islam to be a religion with future, not only a past.
Put aside the ambiguity of both democracy democratic and Islamic reforms: the Arabic thinker George Tarabishi responds to the obscurity relating to democracy, secularism and religious reforms based on these sources

Heresy
Heresy II
The miracle or the sleep of reason in Islam
From Islam of the Koran to the Islam of the Hadeeth

According to George Tarabishi, he belongs to a generation that experienced in 50 years what the previous one experiences in 100 or 200 years. He witnessed the ascent and fall of Nazism, Communism, student revolts and the revolution of the European mind starting with existentialism and the school of Frankfort and ending with structuralism and the postmodernist school.
At this time, the world experienced serious troubles with the SWW, the cold war, Nationalism movements in the developing world and globalization.
Gilgamesh Society is extremely pleased to invite you to the conference entitled
Democracy, secularism and religious reforms in the mind of
